2021.09.21 04:43 GreyishSunshine How to tactfully ask my roommate not to use my vacuum.
My roommate and I are both 31F. I moved in two months ago. She’s not a terrible roommate by any means, but she is sometimes difficult to talk with.
One of her chores is floors. She’s only vacuumed twice since moving in. Except for the times she’s broken dishes and a mirror and just vacuumed those things.
The issue I have is that my roommate likes a lot of things and decorations. Which makes her area of the house and some of the common areas hard to move about in. This causes her to sometimes break things by mistake.
She uses my vacuum for both doing the floors and cleaning when she breaks something. Her vacuum doesn’t work super great, so I’m afraid mine will end up the same way as hers. How do I tactfully, yet firmly tell her I prefer to use my vacuum myself and for her to use hers. I don’t want to cause an argument or bring up the past. She does have a tendency to yell when she talks. I don’t know her well enough to tell if she’s actually angry or if that’s just her voice. I’ve tried asking about her yelling and she accused me of insulting her, so I am almost walking on eggshells here.
On a side note, she’s already broken a few of my things, dishes, candles, and picture frames. I don’t want to shame her for these things but I don’t want the same fate to happen to my vacuum, especially if she’s using it to clean up broken glass.

2021.09.21 04:43 rando3x Bad Interaction with Manager. Opinions?
I work in tech and accepted a fully remote junior cloud engineering role last month. During the interview, it was stated that my shifts would be 4pm-12am, which wasn't a problem. There are five new hires (three men, including myself, and two women) and a few other senior workers that have been on. The senior workers have seniority so they got to pick their days (understandable). Last week, my manager sent the new schedule out (which goes live next month) and there are three of us working 4pm-12am (a senior person who selected his days, another new hire, and myself). My manager stated the schedule was a draft and open for discussion so we had a meeting on Friday to discuss it. On the schedule, the senior guy is working Monday-Friday and so is the other female new hire. My schedule is Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Thursday, and Friday.
I didn't think it was fair for another new hire, like myself, to have a "prime" schedule that allows her to be off on weekends. I reached out to the other new hire directly to see her thoughts on rotating weekends for the sake of fairness and a work/life balance. Of course she wasn't interested because she wanted her weekends to herself. During the meeting, I presented the idea of rotating weekends in the sense of fairness, even wrote out a mock schedule for her and I. My manager stated he'd have to rework "everyone's" schedule if he were to modify it when in reality, it didn't affect everyone, just us two. He then stated the senior guy would be dragged into it and I stated he wouldn't, the schedule solely affects her and I. Everyone knows that weekends are when a lot of people enjoy their social life and I didn't want to have to completely say goodbye to mine, for the sake of a job.
He later stated it wouldn't be fair to jerk her (the other new hire) around to accommodate me then he apologized, stating he can't accommodate me. I stated it wouldn't be jerking her around, we'd simply have rotating weekends and even gave a visual example of how said schedule is completely feasible. It wasn't a matter of interrupting the pay period, we'd still have five eight-hour shifts per week. After understanding that he wasn't open to what I was saying and his "it's a draft, open for discussion" was simply a formality to make people feel like they had a say, I stated it's cool and I'd talk to him directly since we were still on a group call with the other new hire. I called him directly to review the proposal and he declined so I stated, "if you're not able to accommodate a fair weekend rotation then it's cool, I'll work around it." He stated it wasn't cool and asked if I'd be ok with working the schedule because he didn't want to have to train someone last minute if I were to surprise them with a two-week notice. He said he didn't want me to start immediately looking for new positions but essentially keep them in the dark with my intent to do so. He then said the reason he put me on weekends was because I was the stronger candidate. I'm not sure if he thought that out before saying it because it couldn't have been a compliment to reward me by taking my weekends in exchange for me being a "stronger candidate."
Something else I'd like to point out is of us five new hires, both women have Mon-Fri schedules while the men are working weekends. From first glance and after this interaction, it appears to be some gender bias going on. I found it incredibly selfish and inconsiderate for him to blatantly prioritize her work/life balance over mine when we were all hired at the same time. He really rubbed it in with asking if I planned on leaving so he could "start looking."
I'm not sure how to feel right now but it's not a good feeling. Thoughts and opinions?

2021.09.21 04:43 CommanderBel Side hustles for a 15 year old?
I am a 15 year old, looking for a side hustle. I do a little bit of stock market trading, but since schools started, what already wasn't going very far, is moving even slower. I've tried selling candy, drinks, even pizza by the slice at my school and I've gotten warnings against it, what can I do besides those things?
